Estiator Magazine (May 2024)

Edesma aims to chart its own course on Long Island,

"offering homey, traditional Greek cuisine that does not break the bank," Newsday reports. Diners can construct a meal from shareable mezze, all less than $20; most main dishes are under $30. "There is so much more to Greek food than we see on Long Island," owner Vassilis Triantopoulos told the paper. Vassilis and his brother, George, hail from Glyfa, on the Malian Gulf. The menu features rarities like tourlou (stewed vegetables), ravasaki (cheese-filled, honey-drizzled phyllo packets), dakos salad (tomatoes, olives and capers on Cretan barley rusks).

My sister-in-laws and I picked this new restaurant very last minute and based off the recommendation of my "food-y" neighbor. Since we were new to Edesma, we decided to share a few different apps and dinner so we could have a good sampling of dishes to try. Soooo enjoyed everything we ordered.... delicious and fresh. Great attention to detail from the food presentation to the table setting to the service to the ambiance. Very content to have an authentic Greek restaurant with a pleasant and friendly atmosphere close in town. Much success to this brother duo and their families.

Had a Mother's Day dinner for 4. The wait staff is very helpful, engaging, and super knowledgeable of the menu. The food was served quickly, no mistakes on the order. The specialty cocktails are terrific (the Kerasi is great, and my wife loved the Figtini). We picked several items off the menu and shared everything; Haloumi, Karpouzi, and the spread sampler were big hits! I'll be back!

Words can’t describe how exceptional the food and service is at Edesma. The owner and staff greeted us and meticulously went over the menu with us and made wonderful suggestions. The food pairing was delightful and we tried a handful of authentic dishes. Everything was delicious!!! Welcome to the neighborhood!

My husband and I had a fantastic experience at Edesma. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were incredibly helpful in explaining the menu and recommending options. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. 5/5 stars!

Just came back from dinner here this evening - I don't have enough stars to give this place, 5 simply doesn't cover it!!
From the second we walked in, till the second we left, we were treated like absolute royalty by the wait staff here. Special shout out to Helen (and another young woman whose name I unfortunately didn't catch) for taking such good care of us!! Their recommendations and friendly candor were just the best, it kind of made me feel like I was actually in Greece again! There was no rush, just good conversation and great vibes!
The restaurant itself was super spacious, great sunlight, gorgeous minimalistic interior, and bonus points for a clean and spacious bathroom!
Getting to the main star - the food - it literally felt like I was in Santorini!
My group and I ordered the dip platter with all 4 dips, the veggie crisps, souvlaki, their citrus chicken, and the lavraki branzino with potatoes.
Every single bite we ate was just mind blowing - my toddler son wiped the plate of branzino and potatoes CLEAN (if that doesn't speak for itself I don't know what does).
The owner was just so inviting and friendly and tried to have my son meet the chef, but the 6:30 pm feels hit him and we didn't get a chance to thank the chef for his masterpieces this evening.

I will DEFINITELY be back with my family again, thanks for bringing a piece of Greece to Long Island!!!
